This reinterpretation of the Sagrada Família draws on the intimate world of Johannes Vermeer, master of 17th-century Dutch painting. Framed by a window and a heavy blue curtain, Gaudí’s basilica is revealed in soft, golden light. In the foreground, an earthenware ewer, a bowl of fruit and an oriental rug recall the everyday objects found in Vermeer’s interiors. The natural light, delicate shadows and meticulous rendering of materials characteristic of his work give this composition a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere. An unexpected encounter between the architecture of Barcelona and the elegance of the Dutch Golden Age.
