L'œuvre en bref
This work revisits Mont-Saint-Michel in the spirit of Vincent van Gogh, evoking in particular his famous painting The Starry Night. Beneath a night sky alive with blue swirls and luminous stars, the abbey takes on golden reflections that stretch across the waters of the bay. The thick, expressive brushstrokes, swirling movements and intense contrasts between blue and yellow that define Van Gogh’s painting give the composition a striking energy. True to the spirit of Post-Impressionism, colour goes beyond the simple depiction of reality to convey all the emotional intensity of the landscape.
