This creation reimagines the Statue of Liberty through the Pop Art world of Andy Warhol. Reproduced four times in a composition of dazzling colours, the New York monument is decked out in pink, yellow, blue and violet. The repetition of images, striking contrasts and screen-print effects recall the portraits of Marilyn Monroe through which Warhol transformed popular icons into works of art. The painting borrows the artist’s visual codes to offer a bold, colourful vision of one of the most emblematic symbols of the United States.
