This work revisits the Pyramids of Giza in the spirit of Roy Lichtenstein, an emblematic figure of American Pop Art. Beneath a blazing sun, the pyramids take their place in a comic-strip scene, alongside a female figure and her thought bubble. The thick black outlines, primary colours and Ben-Day dots typical of Lichtenstein’s pictorial language evoke the printing techniques of 1960s American comics. An original encounter between contemporary popular art and the heritage of ancient Egypt, in which the pyramids become the backdrop of a genuine comic-strip panel.
