L'œuvre en bref
This transposition of the Golden Gate Bridge draws on the world of Edward Hopper, a pillar of American Realism. From a deserted terrace, the San Francisco bridge is revealed in late-afternoon light, above the calm waters of the bay. The architectural framing, sharply drawn shadows and contrast between lit spaces and areas of shade recall Hopper’s compositions, in which ordinary places take on a contemplative dimension. The absence of figures and the sobriety of the setting reinforce this silent atmosphere, offering an intimate and unusual vision of the Californian monument.
