L'œuvre en bref
This new take on Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster draws on Edward Hopper, a great name of American Realism, whose paintings explore the solitude and silence of urban landscapes. Empty of any human presence, the London landmarks stand in the golden light of late afternoon. The deep shadows, strong architectural lines and contrasts between lit and dark areas recall Hopper’s compositions, in which light plays an essential role in creating melancholy atmospheres. London takes on the appearance of a city suspended in time, imbued with calm and mystery.
