L'œuvre en bref
This transposition of the Eiffel Tower into the world of Vincent van Gogh, master of Post-Impressionism, sets the sky swirling as in The Starry Night, with yellow stars radiating in halos and the Seine casting back the city lights in long golden trails. On the bank, an arched bridge and a row of dark trees accompany the tower, whose iron structure can barely be made out behind this vibrant sky. The thick brushwork, swirling curves and luminous contrasts characteristic of Van Gogh give the scene an almost hypnotic intensity.
