This reinterpretation of the Eiffel Tower draws on Salvador Dalí, one of the great names of Surrealism. In the heart of a sandy desert bathed in golden light, the tower stands perfectly recognisable, surrounded by elephants with impossibly long legs, a melting sphere and wide pools reflecting the sky. Dark cypresses and bluish mountains close off the horizon. The deep perspectives, almost photographic precision and improbable combinations of objects, typical of Dalí’s world, evoke The Elephants in particular. Paris slips into a waking dream, yet the silhouette of the monument is never betrayed.
