L'œuvre en bref
This work revisits the Old Port of Marseille in the spirit of Paul Signac, a great name of Neo-Impressionism, who himself painted the entrance to the port of Marseille. The sails, the red, blue and yellow hulls and the quayside façades are reflected in the water in a thousand points of light, with Notre-Dame de la Garde on its hill beneath a rosy sky. The juxtaposition of dabs of pure colour, the hallmark of Pointillism, creates vibrant optical blends when seen from a distance. A joyful, luminous view of the old Phocaean city, full of sunshine and movement.
