L'œuvre en bref
This reinterpretation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa draws on the graphic world of M. C. Escher, famous for his plays on perspective and optical illusions. A staircase with improbable paths winds around the tower, while the Piazza dei Miracoli unfolds in a composition where the laws of space seem turned upside down. The black-and-white contrasts, precise detail and geometric constructions characteristic of his prints give rise to an architecture as fascinating as it is disconcerting. Between reality and illusion, this creation evokes the artist’s impossible perspectives, notably those of Relativity and Ascending and Descending.
