Altarpiece No. 2 - Hilma de Klint

Between the lower and the higher, the internal and the external, the earthly and the spiritual, reality and metaphysics, good and evil: the metaphorical choice of colours is established such as blue for the feminine spirit, yellow for the masculine spirit and red for love.
Thus the horizontal reading, composed of red and pink, is disrupted when the gaping triangle reverses the direction of the composition to raise the earthly spirit to the celestial. From this moment on, a road is established to receive the luminous circle: the simplest and most homogeneous hue in the face of darkness.
The spiral crowning this circle, like a spiritual ferryman linking heaven to earth, completes the composition in weightlessness.
