Aha Oe Feii - Paul Gauguin
In a very decorative composition, Paul Gauguin shows two wahines at the water's edge, in the heart of an almost abstract landscape, without any depth effect or horizon line. The naked bodies seem to be one with the landscape that surrounds them, animated by reflections forming strange arabesques that recall the aesthetics of Japanese prints. The title, written in Tahitian, remains enigmatic, as much as the French translation (Eh quoi ! Tu es jalouse ?).
